Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 red onion thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add string beans and cook 3–5 minutes, until just tender but still bright green. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced red onion and cook 3–4 minutes until softened and lightly caramelized.
  • Add the green beans, garlic powder, and soy sauce. Toss to coat evenly.
  • Cook another 2–3 minutes, letting the beans soak up the flavor. Taste and adjust seasoning with more soy sauce or salt if needed.
  • Serve hot as a side dish.
